Asynchronous Care

A telehealth model where patients submit information and receive clinician decisions without a live call.

Fact-checked 12 May 2026Plain-English Reference

Most direct-to-consumer telehealth — including the majority of GLP-1, hair-loss, and ED prescribing — runs on asynchronous review. The patient completes an intake; a clinician reviews and prescribes (or declines). Asynchronous care can be excellent for routine prescribing but is poorly suited to nuanced or high-acuity decisions.
