Estradiol (in TRT)

An estrogen produced when testosterone is aromatized; monitored on TRT to manage side effects.

Fact-checked 12 May 2026Plain-English Reference

Some testosterone is converted to estradiol via the aromatase enzyme. Mildly elevated estradiol on TRT is normal and often beneficial; significantly elevated estradiol can contribute to gynecomastia, water retention, or mood changes. Aromatase inhibitors (e.g., anastrozole) are used selectively, not universally.
