GLP-1 receptor agonists are injectable (and in one case oral) medications originally developed for type 2 diabetes that have become first-line treatments for obesity and metabolic disease. The class includes liraglutide (Saxenda), semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy), and the dual GIP/GLP-1 agonist tirzepatide (Mounjaro, Zepbound).
